MADISON – Sharon DeMerchant, 81, peacefully entered her heavenly home on May 25, 2023, at Winterberry Assisted Living, in Bangor.

She was born in Old Town on Oct. 15, 1942 to the late Howard and Helen (Rowell) Spinney. She married her prince and best friend, Gary DeMerchant in November 1962.

Gary and Sharon owned and operated a successful business, Augusta Business Machines, in Fairfield Center, until they retired.

Sharon was active in several church ministries. She enjoyed working with the children’s ministries and ladies’ bible study while attending Cornerstone Baptist Church, in Madison.

Sharon loved her family. She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Gary DeMerchant of Bangor; Kim and her spouse Kevin Ullrich, of Fredericksburg, Va.; sister, Shirley and her spouse Ed Soucie, of Milford, sister, Sylvia Spinney of Madison; special daughter-in-law, Kim Hall and her spouse Herb.

Sharon was predeceased by her parents Howard and Helen Spinney; and son, Robert DeMerchant.

A memorial service will be held at a later date, at the family’s convenience.
