Wiscasset Creative Alliance is set to present Wiscasset Homes on Tour from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 8.
In the late 18th and early 19th centuries, Wiscasset had a prolific ship-building industry, now long gone, along the shores of the Sheepscot River. But those remaining emblems of wealth — the well-preserved, handsome Federal-style homes — are why Wiscasset is known as “the prettiest village in Maine,” according to a news release from Lucia Droby of the planning team.
The 2023 tour will showcase homes and civic buildings built by wealthy ship captains and other early entrepreneurial citizens, featuring today’s esthetics, collections, and abundant gardens.
Tickets cost $30 each, with an optional order of lunch in advance for $15. Visitors are encouraged to purchase tickets online in advance of the tour. Tickets also can be purchased on the day of the tour from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 8 at the 36 Water St. parking lot; cash, checks, and plastic accepted.
More tour details, ticket information, and the lunch menu for advance order can be found online at wiscassetcreativealliance.org. For more information, call 214-232-3699 and leave a message.
