In the Aug. 15, “Views from Elsewhere” section on the Opinion Page, you printed an editorial “Obama takes title of ‘worst president’ from Carter.”

Jimmy Carter was not the worst president that this country has had. In fact, I would have to rate him as being in the top three best presidents. If you are, indeed, going to rank presidents of the United States, I would submit that George W. Bush was the single worst president.

Bush more than tripled the debt of this country during his eight years in office. In the process of doing so, he lied to the American people and, worse, sent many of them to their deaths soley to gratify his ego.

If you want to rank U.S. presidents, I believe that Ronald Reagan should be nominated as the next-to-the-worst president. After all, he, too, tripled the U.S. debt during his term in office. Reagan and Bush did more to devalue the American dollar, damage the American economy, and hurt the American worker than any other presidents since the creation of this country.

Please, when writing about U.S. history, try to use facts, not fiction.
