I was brought up in a musical family, and music has played a large part in my life. The weekend of May 31-June 1 brought home to me the importance of music in one’s life.

On May 31, the Skowhegan Community Band, Chorus and Orchestra performed a public concert, and on June 1, the Riverside Ringers of the Federated Church gave their spring concert. All of these groups did an excellent job.

The Skowhegan area is fortunate to have such dedicated directors and musicians who, for little or no money, contribute so much to the enrichment of our lives. I am also grateful for the summer concerts in the park on Sunday afternoons during July and August. I urge area citizens to honor these groups with their support.
