Scholarship awards ceremony held in Skowhegan

SKOWHEGAN — Friends and family recently gathered to celebrate student’s dreams in Skowhegan at the Future of Maine College Aspirations Scholarship awards ceremony recently at Skowhegan Area High School. Thirty-three students from six area schools, grades 3-8, received college scholarships after participating in Maine College Circle workshops and then completing an essay on their career dreams.

The following students were awarded scholarships:

Bloomfield Elementary: Emily Lachapelle and George Mitchell, grade 3.

Canaan Elementary: Kobe Butters and McKayla Raymond, grade 3; Acelinn Davis, grade 4; Morgan Peacock and Abby Towle, grade 5; and Maggie Harvey, grade 6.

Margaret Chase Smith School: Riley Fitzpatrick, grade 4; Blaize Aiken, Caden Clark, Trent Gunst and Emily Lyman, grade 5.

Millstream Elementary: Kaitlyn Johndro, grade 3; Taylor Carleton, Trevor Foss, Nancy Giasson, Isabel Goeman, Brennan Hebert and Jada Hurlbett, grade 5; Nick Alves, Joshua Brown, Kayla Dickinson, Hailey Edwards, Linsey Dow, Romy Gerstenberger, Lydia Lapointe, Alexis Michonski, Riley Stratton and Kathryn Worthen, grade 6.

Moscow Elementary: Emily Collins and Desirae Pinkham, grade 4.

Quimby School: Victoria Beane, grade 5.
