American Legion Auxiliary Unit #39, Madison is collecting school supplies for children in its local schools (Maine School Administrative District 59 in Madison and Anson based Regional School Unit 74).
Items needed include backpacks, rulers, erasers, pencils, colored pencils, ink pens (blue, black and red), crayons, markers, glue sticks, water bottles (no larger than 20 ounce), pouches for binders, 1-inch binders, one-subject notebooks, college and standard ruled filler paper, according to a news release from Harriet Bryant with the auxiliary.
Items can be dropped off in the collection box at the Madison American Legion Hall at 20 S. Maple St. at 3 p.m. on Mondays through Saturdays, and between noon and 4 p.m. on Sundays. Those who don’t have time to shop can send a monetary donation and auxiliary members will do the shopping. Make checks payable to Madison ALA with School Supplies in the Memo. Items also can be dropped off on Saturday, Aug. 26, at the auxiliary’s booth at the Craft & Vendors Fair located in the green space at Skowhegan Savings Bank in Madison during Madison/Anson Days.
