Midcoast Community Chorus invites singers of all ages, experience, and abilities to register for the fall semester of weekly rehearsals. An audition is not required.

In-person registration occurs before the first three rehearsals, scheduled for 5 p.m. Mondays, Sept. 11, 18 and 25. The chorus meets at the First Congregational Church, 55 Elm St. in Camden.

Rehearsals are held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. each Monday, starting Sept. 11. Singers are provided with all sheet music and practice audio tracks. Singers can also register at mccsings.org/join.

Registration for the semester is $85, with scholarships available. The semester of rehearsals culminates in a concert in mid-January of 2024.

Performing for more than 10 years, the chorus gives voice to anyone who wishes to sing, holding the tenet that the voice is the sound of the soul, that all voices deserve to be heard, and that singing together builds community, according to a news release from Tiare Messing with the chorus.

People can join about 100 singers between ages 13 to 95 under the direction of Artistic Director Jeffrey Maynard, accompanied by Assistant Director Joani Mitchell.

Different traditions, cultures, languages, and musical genres make up the semester’s musical selection with the intention to provide hope, inspiration, healing and joy to a concert audience. The theme of the January concert will be “Spirit” in all its forms … in nature, in loved ones, and in one’s own spirituality. Within a varied collection of musical genres, the concert will feature “Snow” by Sir Edward Elgar.

Inquiries can be emailed to info@mccsings.org.
