LEWISTON — YWCA Central Maine’s Strive Program has opened registration for its fall cohort.

The program is a free workforce development and professional certificate program designed to provide participants with critical digital literacy and workforce skills while also helping them explore and refine personal strengths and goals. These skills can be used to expand employment opportunities and income earning potential, according to a news release from Jennifer Molloy with the YWCA.

The next cohort is set for 10-11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 26 to Dec. 12, over Zoom.

Some skills that will be learned:

• Develop Professional and Digital Skills for the Workplace;

• Google Suite;

• Entrepreneurship;

• Conflict Resolution;

• Financial Independence;

• Teamwork and Collaboration;

• Presentation Skills;

• Resume, and Cover Letter Writing;

• Interview Skills and Public Speaking Skills; and

• Independent Work and Career Counseling.

Classes are offered virtually on Zoom. Financial assistance may be available for transportation, childcare, technology or other barriers to participation.

The evidence-based program has been offered at YWCAs nationwide, it aims to support women and persons of color in the workforce, in service of the YWCA mission to eliminate racism and empower women.
