Caridad Menendez Pera London
CASCO – Caridad Menendez Pera London, lovingly known as Carrie and formerly of Pittsfield, 87, died peacefully on Sept. 15, 2023, in Casco.
Carrie was born on Sept. 8, 1937, in Havana, Cuba, the daughter of Rosendo and Guillermina Menendez. She was very active in her younger years, belonging to the Eastern Star and Pittsfield Garden Club. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, sewing, oil painting, and working with stained glass. Her pets were also a big part of her life, enjoying a multitude of dogs, cats, guinea pigs, ducks and sheep. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her sons, David London and wife Trish of Naples and George London and wife Bonny of Troy; her grandchildren: Matthew and Thomas of Ridley Park, Pa., Caitlin of Claymont, Del., Seth of LA, Kylie London and her fiancé Ian Mayberry of Waterville; her brother-in-law, Leroy Starbird of Clinton; and a cousin, Rosalie Menendez of Japan.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 63 years, Charles T. London; and her sister, Guillermina Starbird.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m., with a service at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 23, 2023, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield. A committal for both Charles and Carrie will be held at a time to be announced at the Village Cemetery, Peltoma Ave., Pittsfield.
