Destiny Burgess
MOUNT VERNON – Destiny Burgess, 41, passed away on Sept. 30, 2023.
Destiny was born May 29, 1982, in New Britain, Connecticut, daughter of Catherine (Rolfe) Bell of Damariscotta Maine and Donald Bell of Torrington Connecticut, her grandmother Frieda Rolfe of Skowhegan Maine.
She lived in Augusta and graduated from Cony High School. She was a sporty girl, she played basketball, and did track, but was most remembered for her strong arms in softball. After graduating high school in 2000, Destiny went on to earn many certificates in her working days, she was one of the hardest workers, she acquired her canine degree, working as a dog groomer, then onto her cosmetology degree, which lead her to owning her hair salon in Winthrop, and then onto the medical field, earning her CNA, CRMA and MED TECH degrees. She even worked in the kitchen as a cook at the restaurant Ground Round in Augusta when she wasn’t waitressing. She really did it all!
What Destiny loved most was being in her beautiful garden, she always had a green thumb, her Cannon jar days would show that true. Destiny especially loved this time of year, making her famous pumpkin Whoopie pies. When she wasn’t in the kitchen or in her garden, her next favorite place to be was by the water, fishing with the loves of her life, her two boys. She loved being outside, nature walks in the woods with her boys and her dog (now passed) Rex, she sure did love that dog. Turner Maine is where her heart will always be, all the best memories with her boys, who she loved fiercely, being a mother, was her greatest accomplishment. Her two boys whom she loved with all of her, will carry on her name and memory…
Destiny was a force as some described, a fiery soul, people were just drawn to her, to know her was to love her, and many people did just that. Her laugh could cure about anything! Being heard near and far, we will never forget that beautiful laugh or her beautiful soul.
In addition to her parents and grandmother, Destiny is survived by her two greatest loves, her boys, Bryce and Weston Burgess as well as their father Jeremy Burgess. Her brother Dameian Bell and sister Kasandra Catchings. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Destiny was predeceased by her grandfather Rolfe, as well as Uncle Levi Rolfe.
A public celebration of life will be held this Sunday, October 15, 2023, from 2-4 p.m., at Gipper’s Sports Grill, 120 Center St, Auburn, Maine 04210 in the banquet room.
Arrangements are in the care of the Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin Street, Winthrop where condolences and memories may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the funeral home website by visiting http://www.khrfuneralhomes.com.
In lieu of flowers the family would like to ask for help in affording a stone and burial spot to lay her to rest closer to her boys, no amount is too small.
