BANGOR – James passed away on Oct. 12, 2023, at the age of 98, while residing at the veterans home in Bangor. He was born on July 26, 1925, in Strong, Maine, the youngest son to Norman and Mina Worthley.

He was an Army veteran of W.W.II. After the war Jim enrolled at the University of Maine in Orono, graduating in 1951. He worked for Wirthmore Feeds, but spent the majority of his career employed at the Maine Dept. of Agriculture as a livestock specialist. After retiring in 1985, James spent summers in Strong, and winters in Florida.

He was predeceased by his wife Nelda (Thompson) of 57 years. Surviving are his four children, Margaret (Bill) Cox of Lincoln, Craig (Dawn) of Hallowell, John (Louanne) of Strong, and Kevin of Winthrop; two grandchildren, Karen Paquette (Eric) of Greene, and David (Ashley) of Lincoln; and two great-grandchildren, Brady and Carter Cox. Other survivors include two nephews, Robert and Richard Worthley of Strong, and a niece, Joan Carr of Mendon, NY.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 1:00 p.m. at the Forster Memorial Building, 14 S. Main St., in Strong.
