AUGUSTA – Leslie (Bud) Hall, 91, of Farmingdale, died Thursday Oct. 19, 2023, at the Maine Veterans Homes in Augusta.
He was born in Augusta in 1932 to Lida Hall Curtis and Leslie A. Hall Sr.
Leslie, or “Bud” as most people called him, graduated from Hallowell High School in 1951. It was there that he met the love of his life, and wife of 65 years, Beverly Rollins.
In 1951, he entered the U.S. Air Force, where he remained a dedicated serviceman for 20 years until his retirement as Master Sergeant in 1971. While enlisted, he served two tours in Germany, and was also stationed in New Hampshire, New York, Florida, and Arizona. During this time, he and his wife Beverly welcomed two beloved sons, Leslie A. Hall II in April of 1955, and Keith M. Hall in August of 1957.
In 1971, Leslie joined his wife’s family business at Rollins’ Furniture, where he managed stores in South Portland and North Hampton until his retirement in 1991. After their retirement, they moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas, where they resided for 27 years. Leslie returned back home to Maine in 2018, where he was surrounded by love, family, and friends.
Leslie was a life member of the Kennebec Masonic Lodge #5, Kora Temple, and National Rifle Association. He also held membership with the Scottish Rite, Capital City R&P Club, and was a dedicated Hospice volunteer for 26 years.
Leslie was predeceased by his parents, Lida Hall Curtis and Leslie Hall Sr.; wife Beverly M. Hall; son Maj. Keith M. Hall, USAF; and sister Gloria Thompson.
He is survived by his son Leslie (Les) Hall of Hallowell; grandchildren Tara Shepard, Erin Popplewell, Scott Hall, Dorothy Tripp, and Johnathan Hall; and several great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A graveside service with full military honors will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Gardiner, Maine on Friday, November 3, at 11 a.m.
