Edward Banford Leaman

HALLOWELL – Grandfather, Father, Husband, Artist, Poet, Day Dreamer, Lover of Life. Eddie was born in Gloucester, Mass. in 1946. He spent his childhood running in the woods and marshes of West Gloucester. Then driving old cars and wreaking havoc, before going off to travel. He raised his family in Gloucester and worked as an Antique dealer (Poets Antiques).

After his children were grown, he spent the next chapter of his life in Hallowell, Maine. He loved to paint and live a poetic life. He was one of a kind and had a way to see the brighter side of life. He loved to stay up late and listen to loud music and paint the night away.

He passed of natural causes sometime on the 25th or 26th of October 2023. He was in his favorite chair reading some of his old poems getting ready to cook a delicious meal, and took his final afternoon nap. He was so loved. We will have a celebration of his life in the future.

We found this poem that he wrote years ago by his chair:

Vacation
A song singing a song
Come now sang amocking bird
Sweet chariot coming to take me home
Colored gardens green grass
I’m leaving somehow to a heavens garden
With them flowers too am pointing off to the blue horizon
Fluff the earth’s garden given the sky to lay on
And my blanket to be an angel filled with love and wine
