SKOWHEGAN — Chase Nelson’s two-run single in the second inning was enough to lift RTD to a 2-1 win over Gardiner in Zone 2 American Legion play on Saturday, completing the doubleheader sweep.

Nelson also earned the win in game two. In game one, RTD (7-3) scored four runs in the fifth inning to take an 8-5 win. John Swett had three hits and drove in a pair of runs for RTD. Kam Nelson and Dallon Stevens also drove in two runs each for RTD.

Gardiner is now 1-7.

THE RED BARN 6-1, THE FIRST 1-11: Tayler Carrier and Cam Brochu each hit doubles to lead The Red Barn to a doubleheader split with The First in Zone 2 action in Rockland.

Riley Boivin collected the win on the mound for The Red Barn (3-3) in the first game.

Nick Mazurek had a double to help lead The First (2-4) to the win in the second game.

JUNIOR LEGION

BRUNO’S 5-9, POST 14 3-10: Kyle Dugas had five hits, including a double, to lead Post 14 of Fairfield to a doubleheader split with Bruno’s of Portland at Thomas College in Waterville.

Cole Robinson smacked two doubles in the first game for Post 14 (6-2). Bowen Doubel and Chase Duguay each had two RBIs in the second game for Post 14.

Bruno’s is now 7-2.
