James “Jim” David Jones

NORRIDGEWOCK – James “Jim” David Jones, 80, passed away at home with family by his side, on Dec. 7, 2023, after a long illness. Jim was born on May 5, 1943, in Waterbury, Connecticut, the son of Janet Estelle (Milne) and John Henry Jones. He served in the Vietnam War as an aircraft mechanic for the United States Air Force.

Jim worked at Pratt and Whitney in Connecticut for more than 40 years as a machinist. When he wasn’t working, Jim enjoyed golfing, hunting, and fishing, especially fly fishing. One of his favorite fishing trips was when he went to Alaska with his five sons. He also enjoyed going on fishing trips to Belize with his eldest son Jim. In his younger years he enjoyed enduro racing with family and friends.

He is predeceased by his parents, his brother Jack Jones, sister Sue Swan, and niece Stephanie Swan.

Jim is survived by his wife of 49 years, Rita (Garland) Jones; his sons James (Beth) Jones Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia, Robert Jones of Breckenridge, Colorado, Daniel Jones of Guerneville, California, Rene (Zena) Griffeth of Madison, Maine, and Jay Griffeth of Ballwin, Missouri; grandchildren Rosie Jones, Issac Jones, Gabriel Griffeth, Rebekah Griffeth, Rachel (Kobe) Tibbetts, Alison Griffeth, and Zachary Griffeth; his loving sister Genevieve (Robert) SanAngelo of Firestone, Colorado; as well as nieces Amy Marcellus of Colorado and Tracie Oliveri of Connecticut.

A graveside service will be held in the spring.

The family would like to thank special friend and care giver Sandy Neubauer of Norridgewock, Maine, the VA of Maine, and Beacon Hospice Care.
