BELGRADE — Mr. Harley and the Strollers will perform at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, at Belgrade Community Center for All Seasons. The event will kick off fundraising efforts for a new playground for the Center, according to a Belgrade Parks and Recreation press release.

The Belgrade Board of Parks and Recreation hopes to raise enough money to install a new playground at the Center, possibly as early as this fall. “The Center is in real need of a new playground,” said Recreation Director Valencia Schubert in the release. “The equipment we have now is outdated and children attending after-school care and summer camp have to pass through a parking lot to access it. The new playground would be located behind the Center in a much safer and more enjoyable space for children and adults.”

Tickets cost $5 in advance, $7 day of the show. Food, drinks and 50/50 raffles will be available that evening.

Other family community events at the Community Center include: the Fourth of July Ice Cream Social set for 1:30–2:30 p.m. Friday, sponsored by Gifford’s Ice Cream.

New this summer is the Belgrade Lakes Youth Sailing Program, sponsored by Great Pond Yacht Club and SailMaine and hosted by the Belgrade Center for All Seasons. Sailing camps will run July 21–Aug. 15. Belgrade’s Lakeside Artisan Show is set for 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, at the Center.
