CLINTON — A man’s body was found on the side of the road Saturday, though the death does not appear to be suspicious, police said.
Clinton police and fire-rescue responded to a call reporting a man down on the side of Silver Street shortly after 6 a.m. Saturday, the Clinton Police Department said in a news release posted to its Facebook page Saturday. Police found the man had died.
The body was transported to the state Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta for an autopsy, though police do not suspect foul play and do not believe there is a threat to the public.
The name of the man will not be released, the Police Department said Saturday.
Clinton police did not immediately return a request for more information Monday afternoon.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
