ANSON — Residents will gather for a special town meeting Tuesday night to appropriate money for the purchase of a new Town Office building.

The meeting follows a June 30 decision to buy the building at 5 Kennebec St., where the Town Office has been relocated temporarily for the last year following several air quality issues at the former office site on Main Street.

The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Carrabec Community School gymnasium.

Selectmen are recommending that the town allocate $33,000 from the property reserve fund as a first installment on the property.

The total cost of $100,000 is scheduled to be paid over a three-year period.
