Irene Hill

AUGUSTA – Irene Hill was called to be with her Lord and Savoir on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Glenridge Long Term Care in Augusta with her children by her side.

She was born in Augusta on July 27, 1936, the daughter of Perley and Reta (Saunders) LeClair. In 1957, she married Rodney Hill and they were married until his death in 2011.

After staying home to raise her five children, Irene worked at the Board of Voter Registration in Gardiner, Rodrigue Eye Center and caring for someone with special needs. She also volunteered at the Augusta Hospital and the Cohen Center. Irene was a very giving person and her “work” consisted of helping others.

She was a member of the Augusta Area Jaycees, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Church of Christ and Water of Life Church.

Irene was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Perley and Philias LeClair.

She will be deeply missed by her children, Joyce Wright, Debra Hill, Brenda Westerlund and husband Prescott, Bradford Hill and wife Valerie and Nancy Prince and her husband Randall; grandchildren. Aaron Wright and wife Christine, Nathan Prince and wife Jessica, Amanda Ahern and husband Sean, Alison Getchell and husband Ted, Meeghan Sibley and husband Zak, Jordan Hill and wife Colleen; great grandchildren, Ryan and Charolette Wright, Arianna and Carter Prince, Landon and Aiden Getchell, Jace Sibley and Levi Hill; sisters, Shirley Thornton and husband Milan, Joan Boucher and husband Roger, brother, Arthur LeClair and wife Elaine, brother-in-law, Earl Hill and his wife Margaret, sisters-in-law, Doris LeClair and Collette LeClair; along with many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give the staff at The Inn at City Hall and Glenridge Long Term Care and Rehabilitation a heartfelt thank you for taking such good care of our loved one.

A graveside service will be held on June 18 at 1 p.m. at Kling Cemetery, 595 West River Road, Augusta, followed by a celebration of her life at Le Club Calumet, 334 West River Road, Augusta.
