Francis Everett Caldwell

BOOTHBAY HARBOR – Francis E. Caldwell, 80, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2024, at St. Andrews Nursing home in Boothbay Harbor with family by his side. He is now with his Lord and Savior in heaven.

He was born on Dec. 10, 1943, in Skowhegan, the son Everett F. and Doris M. Caldwell. Fran graduated from Madison High School, class of 1963. Fran liked to hunt and fish, but his most favorite thing to do was turning and adjusting the carburetor on his 1967 GTO. He loved going the car races at Unity Raceway. He worked hard no matter what job he held and always took great pride in doing his best.

Fran was predeceased by his parents, a brother Daniel Caldwell, a stepson Michael Spaulding, and a stepson-in-law Doug Reid.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Phyllis Caldwell of 49 years, stepchildren, Ellen Tewksbury, Jane Reid, David Spaulding and Allie St. Peter; a sister Gloria Berry and husband Dana, brother Larry Caldwell and wife Diana, brother Rick Caldwell and wife Lisa, brother Randy and wife Holly. Also several stepgrandchildren and nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude and appreciation to the wonderful, loving, caring staff at St. Andrews Village Nursing Home for providing such quality care and also to Beacon Hospice for the end of life care and their support.

Visiting hours will be held from 4-8 p.m., on Tuesday, June 18, at Giberson’s Funeral Home, 40 Maple St., Madison.

A family committal service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
