READFIELD — A large group of law enforcement officials were seen near the intersection of Morrill and Nickerson Hill roads late Tuesday.
As of 9 p.m., at least 15 law enforcement vehicles including the Maine State Police were parked near the intersection with their vehicle lights turned off, and they had been there for at least an hour, according to reports.
Morrill Road, a dead end road that runs off of Nickerson Hill Road, is in a rural area of Readfield not far from Main Street, which is also routes 17 and 41, and the town’s center.
The Maine Department of Public Safety did not immediately return a request for comment Tuesday night, and provided no additional information Wednesday by 5 p.m.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
