Marlin E. McCullough

MANCHESTER – Marlin E. McCullough, 77, of Orchard Lane, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, with his loving wife by his side.

Marlin was born in Texas on Feb. 17, 1947, the son of the late Marlin E. White and Nella M. (Tate) McCullough. He spent most of his childhood growing up in San Diego, Calif., and graduated from Sweetwater High School in the class of 1965. Following high school, he served in the Army during the Vietnam Era.

After returning from the Army, Marlin embarked on a career in Residential and Commercial Painting, which he pursued for over 35 years, eventually focusing on residential painting in his later years. Marlin was a jack of all trades and a master of many; there was nothing he couldn’t do. Whether it was building, roofing, masonry, landscaping, electrical work, or plumbing, he could build or fix anything.

Marlin lived in California, primarily Palm Springs, until moving to Maine in 2021, where he and his wife made their home in Manchester. He enjoyed collecting stamps and was a dedicated handyman, always working on projects around the house, from painting a room to building a brick garden with a fountain in the backyard. Marlin was never a person who could remain idle.

Marlin was predeceased by his sister, Barbara McCullough.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline of Manchester; two sons, Nathan and Shannon; sisters Fran and Diana, and brother, Jo Nathan.

A graveside service celebrating Marlin’s life will be held on July 16 at the New Maine Veterans Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta.

Arrangements are under the direction of Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, Church Street, Augusta. To view Marlin’s memorial page or to share an online condolence, please visit http://www.KHrfuneralhomes.com.
