Robert A. Butterfield IV of Phillips achieved Eagle Rank in the Scouts BSA organization.

He began Scouting at an early age and completed both the Cub Scout and Boy Scout programs. For most of his Scouting career, he was a member of Troop 500 of Strong.

When that opportunity ended, he continued Scouting as a Lone Scout. He advanced in ranks, completed merit badges and performed community service.

This path proved to be more difficult than being a part of a troop, but he persevered. He has been focused and dedicated in his pursuit of the Eagle rank, according to a news release from Sheila Butterfield.

For his Eagle project, he built a handicapped-accessible picnic table for Shadagee Housing in Phillips. He continues to work on Merit Badges.

Scouts earn one palm for five extra Merit Badges beyond the ones required to make Eagle. So far, he has earned his bronze and gold palms.

He attended Camp Hinds this summer and will earn 3 badges for that. He will finish two more that he has already started, which will give him the silver palm. Robert will then join his three older brothers, who also earned Eagle and three palms.

Robert’s Eagle Court of Honor was celebrated on July 27 at the Strong Methodist Church and the family gave thanks to all those assisting with his Eagle Project.

He is the son of Zeke and Sheila Butterfield.
