Deanne L. Savoy Kieltyka
AUGUSTA – Deanne L. Savoy Kieltyka, 84, died Monday, July 29, 2024 at the MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center at Gray Birch following a long illness.
She was born in Augusta on May 14, 1940, a daughter of the late G. Alfred and Dorothy (Chapman) Bechard.
Mrs. Kieltyka was a graduate of Cony High School. She had been employed by United Management for 16 years and previously worked for International Paper and the Department of Agriculture.
Mrs. Kieltyka volunteered for 10 years in the X-Ray department at Augusta General Hospital and taught Adult Education for five years teaching keyboarding.
During high school she and her friend would walk to the Augusta Airport to “plane watch” during the Cold War as members of the junior division of the Ground Observer Corps.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alphonse T. Kieltyka; a sister, Phyllis Alley; and a nephew, Scotty Spencer.
Mrs. Kieltyka is survived by her son, John A. Savoy and his significant other, Cindy Corlis of Derry, N.H.; a sister, Lorraine Smart of Hendersonville, Tenn.; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
At her request, there will be no public visiting hours or funeral service. Deanne did ask that people do a random act of kindness in her memory.
