Linda Lee Jurdak Weed
FREEDOM – It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Linda Lee Jurdak Weed on August 8, 2024. She was born Dec. 19, 1954, in Waterville to Mike Simon and Victoria George Jurdak.
Linda’s journey through life was marked by her devotion to her family. She put them before anything else, always with her unwavering kindness and compassion.
She graduated from Waterville High School, and started her career at Scott Paper Company. She was employed for 24+ years until the company closed. She went to work at the Waterville Superintendent’s Office. Retiring in 2022, she continued to work in other departments wherever they needed her skills, which was quite often.
In 1993, she married Hanson Weed surrounded by their families. Although they had no children, they had many nieces and nephews that they treated as their own. Linda could not say no to these “kids”, no matter how old. She would give them, and the rest of her family, the shirt off her back. She was the most generous and understanding person we knew.
Predeceased by her parents and three siblings, she leaves her loving husband, Hanson Weed and siblings Sally Derosby, JJ Jurdak and spouse Nancy, Sylvia Cobb and Lila Hallowell and spouse Dana. She also leaves behind a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who have become family. All will miss her gentle spirit and caring heart.
These are comments from friends and co-workers that knew Linda. Sweet and kind lady; sweet soul; always upbeat; a smile for everyone; a wonderful person; one of the best; highly intelligent and hard working. Linda was this and so much more.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Maronite Church, 3 Appleton Street, Waterville. Following the mass, a reception will be held downstairs at the Church Hall. Per Linda’s wishes there will be no visitation hours.
Linda will be remembered as a loving wife, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Her spirit of generosity and care will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
