Emery Linton Nason

WINTHROP – Emery Linton Nason, 88, of Winthrop, passed away on Aug. 1, 2024. Born on Nov. 15, 1935, in Houlton. Emery led a life marked by dedication to his family, his work, and his community.

A graduate of Kent’s Hill Preparatory School, Emery furthered his education by becoming a certified pilot with a float rating, and he was also certified in Heating and Air Conditioning. His professional life was diverse and industrious. He began by farming potatoes and driving trucks for Merrill Transport and Iaascson Lumber. He later partnered with Cecil Farr Sawdust, eventually founding his own excavation construction business. Before retiring, he operated heavy machinery for local construction companies, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to hard work and excellence.

Emery served honorably in the Marine Corps Reserves (1958-1964), a testament to his dedication and resilience. His military service was a significant chapter in his life, imbuing him with skills and values that he carried into his civilian endeavors.

His personal interests were as varied as his career. An avid pilot and member of the Civil Air Patrol, Emery also enjoyed scuba diving, fly fishing, and spending time at the lakes and ponds around Greenville. His love for working on Farmall tractors and his passion for fishing were paralleled by his joy in storytelling and teaching life’s lessons to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Emery was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Poland Nason, his second wife, Rayma Irene Greene Brennan Nason; his sons Bruce Emery Nason and John G Brennan; and his siblings Clayton, Ronald, Ruth Johnson, and Phyllis Hewett.

He is survived by his children, John R. “JR” Nason and his wife Susan, Jeffrey Brennan and his wife Jane, Mark A. Brennan and his significant other, Trisha, David Brennan and his significant other, Sandy; along with many nieces, nephews; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Roberts Funeral Home at 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop, is assisting the family during this time. Burial will be for immediate family with a Celebration of Life on Saturday Sept. 14, at the Kents Hill Ski Lodge at the old Kent/Nason Farm.
