Euphemia “Bea” Miller
AUGUSTA – Euphemia “Bea” Miller, 88, died Thursday, July 18, 2024, at the Maine Veterans Home in Augusta following a long but courageous battle with dementia. Bea was born in Eskasoni First Nation Nova Scotia, Canada on December 5, 1935, the daughter of the late Michael R. and Mary Bella (Herney) Denny.
Bea moved to the U.S when she was just 15 years old and lived out the rest of her days in the central Maine area alongside her husband, Jesse Miller.
Throughout her adult life, Bea worked as a self-employed housekeeper. In her spare time, she was a devout Jehovah’s witness who took joy in ministering within her local community. Bea took great pride in her religion and found her second family at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Bea was as witty as they come and always loved to joke around with her friends and family. She never failed to make you laugh during a visit with her. Her humor, compassion and kindness will be greatly missed by all.
Bea was predeceased by her husband Jesse Miller; siblings: Irene Herney, Leona Denny, Matthew Denny, Mary Rita Denny, Jake Denny and Jessie Denny and her beloved daughter, Kathleen.
Bea is survived by her children: Daniel Murphy and wife Sandy of Randolph, Ruth Daniel and husband Dennis of Freeport, Maria Perkins and her husband Dale of Mt Vernon; her sisters: Ruby and husband Gerard Poulin of Augusta and Georgina Doucette of Eskasoni First Nation NS; her caretaker and niece, Deborah and husband Andrew Coulombe of Augusta, niece Jeanette and husband Rick Chartier of Gardiner, niece Mary Poulin of Waterville, and nephew Paul Poulin of Augusta. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and many other nieces and nephews as well as good friend, Brenda Burger.
There will be no public visiting hours. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 21, at 2 p.m., at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Cross Hill Road, Augusta. Burial will be at a later date in the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Maine Veterans Home for the kindness and compassion they showed to Bea and the family during her time in their care.
