As a school board member, I have seen Raegan LaRochelle’s dedication to improving Maine’s schools firsthand. Years before running for office herself, she facilitated forums and discussion that not only helped me decide to run for the school board but made me more prepared by the time I took office.

As a city councilor, Raegan was not a rubber stamp for school board funding requests but supported budget items aligned with identified educational needs. As a state representative, she introduced a bill last year to address a loophole in our truancy laws that had been hindering some district courts from addressing unresolved cases. The bill, as amended, passed through committee, both houses of the Legislature and the governor’s desk without opposition — a notable instance of bipartisan collaboration.

Given the opportunity, I know Raegan will continue to champion education and promote innovative and collaborative approaches as the state senator for Augusta, Belgrade, China, Mount Vernon, Sidney and Vassalboro.
