Maxine Gloria Hoskins

MADISON – Our Mom Maxine Gloria Hoskins, 94, of Madison, passed away peacefully on the morning of Sept. 5, 2024. Born in Starks, Maine, on July 9, 1930, she was the daughter of Vinton and Gladys Ladd.

Maxine graduated from Madison High School in 1948 and married Douglas Hoskins on Oct. 14, 1951. Together, they moved into their new home in Madison, where Maxine lived for the next 73 years.

She dedicated 35 years of service to the U.S. Postal Service, finishing her career as Postmistress of the North Anson Post Office. Maxine was an active member of her community, involved in the Madison Women’s Club, the Minerva Chapter of the Eastern Star, several local granges, and the Madison Historical Society.

Maxine cherished the simple pleasures in life, enjoying rides with her husband, visits with friends at McDonald’s, fishing on Moosehead Lake, days spent at camp on Embden Pond, and knitting, quilting, shopping, Horse Races and celebrating Christmas with her family. She also loved traveling with her husband, exploring destinations such as England, Hawaii, Newfoundland, Canada, and the coast of Maine.

She is survived by her daughters, Kimberley Huggins and her husband Gary, and Stephanie Fortin and her husband Barry; grandchildren Amanda Hight and her husband Sam, Timothy Huggins and his wife Kelly, Chelsea Rousseau and her husband Robert, Jordan Fortin and his wife Kristin, and Colby Fortin and his fiancée Charlene Warren; and great-grandchildren Hadley Hight, Dawson Fortin, Sawyer Rousseau, and Corbin Fortin.
