Richard C. Huntress

AUGUSTA – Richard C. Huntress passed away Sept. 29, 2024 at the Augusta Center for Health and Rehabilitation.

He was born March 2, 1937 to Fred Allston Huntress and Mary Finetta Stiles Huntress in Lewiston.

He resided in Auburn during the winter months and at his family camp on Lake Maranacook in Winthrop during the summer.

He was highly skilled and well known for his ham radio and other radio repair abilities and was often seen frequenting ham radio festivals in Maine. His ham radio call sign was K1CXX and on CB radio he was known as ” Dr. Jim”.

Richard had many other interests including nature photography, listening to classical music, and searching for the perfect bargain at yard sales.

Richard was predeceased by his parents; his older brother, Fred Huntress, Jr.; and his niece and nephew, Marlene and Brian Huntress.

He is survived by his niece, Laurie Huntress; and his cousins Natalie Giles and Jean Trent.

A graveside service will be held at Readfield Corner Cemetery on the Church Road in Readfield on Monday Oct. 7 at 3 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
