NEWPORT — A crash between a tractor-trailer and a construction truck shortly after 2 p.m. on Interstate 95 resulted in serious injuries for a Northeast Paving construction worker.

The worker, Charles Miller, 24, was placing cones on the highway from the back of the construction vehicle for an evening paving project. The tractor-trailer, carrying recycled paper, struck the vehicle, causing Miller to be thrown from the truck. The driver of the tractor-trailer, 38-year-old Boureima Dicko of Pennsylvania, was unharmed, as was the driver of the construction vehicle.

Miller’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, and he was transferred to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor for treatment, Shannon Moss, public information officer for the Maine State Police, said in a news release.

One lane was closed while both trucks were towed away.

The Maine State Police reconstructed the crash and is investigating the scene.
