Jacquelyn Stowell Krupinsky
HALLOWELL – Jacquelyn Stowell Krupinsky passed peacefully of natural causes early on Nov. 8, 2024. She was 92 years old. She was cared for lovingly in the last years of her life by her son and daughter-in-law with whom she lived in Hallowell.
She was born in Springfield, Vermont, to Louis H. and Ethel Stowell. She lived in Chester, Vermont, until she left for college at the University of Vermont in the class of 1954. After graduation, she married Colonel Marvin Joseph Krupinsky (now deceased) of Springfield Vermont. That began an adventurous life as an Army wife, living in many U.S. States and in several towns in Germany. When Marvin retired in Litchfield, Jackie reinvented herself with several careers, most notably as a children’s librarian at the Hall-Dale school in Hallowell, and as a political activist focusing on animal rights. She was the published author of two children’s books — “Look Out for Loons” and “Henry the Hesitant Heron” — inspired by the wildlife around her Litchfield lakeside home.
She also re-embraced her lifelong love of horses and participated in many equestrian events up until she was well in her 80s.
Toward the end of her life, she had some trouble recognizing all of her acquaintances and family members. But she remembered the names, breeding, and colors of every horse she’d ever owned. It’s worth listing them here: King High, Mojave, Lacy J. Dalton, Super J RobAnn (Annie), and Little Joe.
Jackie is survived by her younger brother, Louis H. Stowell, Jr. of Brookfield Vermont, by her son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Pam Krupinsky of Hallowell Maine, by her daughter, Lisa Paul of Los Altos Hills, California, and by her granddaughter, Aleana Krupinsky of Knoxville, Tennessee.
She will be interred next to her husband in the United States Military Academy Old Cemetery at West Point, New York overlooking the Hudson river. Arrangements and guidance are under the care of Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home & Cremation Care, One Church Street, Augusta. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared with the family and the obituary page of the Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home website at http://www.KHRfuneralhomes.com.
In lieu of flowers, Jackie would want you to be kind to animals.
