Glenn Richard DeWitt
ELLSWORTH – Glenn Richard DeWitt, 84, formerly of Augusta, Dresden and Richmond, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2024 at Seal Cove Assisted Living in Ellsworth.
Glenn was born May 28, 1940 in Dubois, Pa., the son of Glenn and Phyllis (Blose) DeWitt.
He served in the U.S. Navy for 24-plus years and retired as an Operations Specialist, Chief Petty Officer. He was a volunteer fire fighter in Dresden and served as assistant fire chief for Richmond Fire Department. Glenn was a member of American Legion Post Emerson, 132 of Richmond.
Glenn was a long-time member of the Maine antique tractor club. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and collecting antique tractors.
He was married to his wife, Elizabeth, for over 40 years, who preceded him in death earlier this year on Nov. 3.
Glenn is survived by brothers James, William, and David DeWitt, sisters-in-law, Valerie and Marsha, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to a committal service with full military honors at 12 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19 in the chapel at the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mount Vernon Rd., Augusta.
