Clara Viola (Anderson) Nilson
MEREDITH, N.H. – Clara V. Nilson, 100, of Meredith, N.H., passed away peacefully on Jan. 10, 2025, at Goldenview Assisted Living.
She was born on Oct. 5, 1924, in Norwood, Mass. to parents Gustav and Anna Anderson, both Swedish immigrants.
She was predeceased by her husband, George “Ted” Nilson; siblings Roy Anderson and sister, Ellen Sward; and beloved granddaughter, Elena Nilson.
She is survived by her sons Ken Nilson and wife Cathy of Moultonborough, N.H. and Karl Nilson and wife Cheryl of Meredith, N.H.; grandchildren Annika Ripps and her husband Harrison of Groton, Mass., Maria Millis and husband Ezra of Juneau, Alaska and Matthew Nilson and fiancé Jocelyn Taylor of Denver, Colo. She also leaves five great-grandchildren who gave her immense joy.
Clara and Ted spent most of their married life in Augusta where she volunteered for the Maine Lung Disease Association and were longtime members of Augusta Country Club. Clara was an accomplished bowler and tennis player and enjoyed playing golf with her family.
She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved to be around family and friends. We’re blessed that she reached her goals of making it to 100 years old and spending Christmas with her family.
The family would like to thank the staff at Goldenview and the Lakes Region VNA Hospice for their kind care, and the support of her dear friends at Meredith Bay Village.
There are no calling hours, but a committal service will be held at a future date in Moultonborough, N.H.
