Peter G. Lewis
PORT REPUBLIC, Md. – Peter G. Lewis, 57, of Port Republic, Md., died unexpectedly on Jan. 8, 2025 at home of natural causes. He was born Nov., 1967 in Lowell, Mass., the son of Nancy and David Lewis.
Raised in North Monmouth, Peter attended Monmouth Academy, graduating in 1985. Within a month of graduating, he entered the United States Navy, attending basic training that July at the Naval Station Great Lakes. He was stationed at Norfolk, Va., Mare Island, Calif., San Diego, Calif. and served aboard the USS Emory S Land and as a plank holder on the USS Boxer. He retired in 2008 as an IT chief petty officer and continued working to support the Navy as a contractor in the private sector.
Peter is survived by his sons Trevor Lewis of San Diego, Calif., Harrison Lewis and wife Alexis of Baltimore, Md., and Rogan Lewis Jamieson of Prince Frederick, Md.; as well as by his parents, Nancy and David Lewis of North Monmouth; his sister, Jennifer Haggard and her husband Arden of Barrington, N.H. Peter is also fondly remembered by his uncle, several aunts; cousins; nieces and nephews.
Peter’s journey was not without hardship, but his family and friends will always remember the good times he had growing up in Maine, his unflinching service to his country, and the deep love he had for his family.
Services will be at the Maine Veterans Cemetery April 15 at 1 p.m.
