Eric Yuba MacPhee
ESCONDIDO, Calif. – Eric Yuba MacPhee passed away on Feb. 28, 2025, after a long illness.
He was born on June 18, 1945, in Gardiner, Maine. He graduated from Gardiner High School in June of 1963. He entered the U.S. Navy in October of 1964. He was a 20-year veteran serving in many places including the Great Lakes, Tennesee, Whidby Island, Guam, Washington D.C., Norfolk Va., Oceanna Va. and a brief stint in Viet nam. He was an airplane mechanic and retired in February 1985 as a Chief Petty Officer. After retiring from the Navy, he worked for Grumman Aircraft Corporation at Force Warfare Aircraft Test Directorate at Patuxent River, Md. Later he worked briefly for the State of Maine in the Maintenance Garage and for a small airport in Auburn until he retired.
Eric was predeceased by his parents, Julius MacPhee and Sylvia (Miller) Macphee; a sister, Elaine MacPhee Greenleaf; a wife, Sonja MacPhee; and an adopted son, Gary MacPhee.
He is survived by best friend and caregiver, Linda Phillips; life-long friend and ex-wife, Linda MacPhee; niece, Andrea Greenleaf Poudrier, nephew, Randy Greenleaf; stepson, Walter Crist, stepdaughters Lisa Porter Dodge, Heather MacMaster and stepson, Shawn Porter; grandchildren, Kolby MacMaster, Ben Porter, Nicole Toth, Niki Crist Hallas, and Tiffany Crist; grandnieces Jessica, Jennifer and Catherine Greenleaf; great-grandchildren, Lydia Hallas, Danica Hallas, Noah Povanda and Darian Hoag.
Funeral services will be arranged in Gardiner this summer and burial will be in the MacPhee family plot at Mt. Hope Cemetery in South Gardiner.
