Janet I. Child

RANDOLPH – Mrs. Janet I. Child, 88, passed away on May 19, 2025, at the MaineGeneral Medical Center after a brief illness. She is the wife of the late Lawrence H. Child, Sr.

Janet was born July 24, 1936, in Winooski, Vermont. She had a brother, Peter, and a sister, Shirley, who predeceased her.

Janet worked at the former Nicholson’s Nursing Home in Winthrop for many years until her retirement at 74 years old. She made many friends and cared very deeply for the residents she saw every day.

Janet treasured her family, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a very special place in her heart. She loved the many photos of them that adorned her walls. After retirement she enjoyed her days sitting outside with her friends and neighbors, sharing stories and memories. Her heart was big, she was a spitfire, and she loved everyone so much.

Janet is survived by her five children, Michael Child, Larry Child Jr. and his wife Sherry, Robin Wood and her husband Kirk, Tammy Crocker, Glenn Child and his wife Pam, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Daughter-in-Law Janie Child and son-in-law Dana Crocker predeceased her.

Janet’s visitation will be at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave, Gardiner, on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, from 4-6 p.m. Burial will be a private.

Arrangements and guidance are in the care of Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, Maine.

In lieu of flowers the family recommends donations to the Kennebec Valley Humane Society in Augusta.
