I am struck by the failure of anyone — letter-writers, pundits, or fellow House Members — to suggest that Rep Laurel Libby’s freedom of speech does not relieve her of the responsibility for endangering anyone’s life, especially a high school youth already struggling with the current cultural vilification of their identity.

Restoring Libby’s right to speak on the Maine House floor would be so much easier to accept if she acknowledged her poor judgment in identifying a minor in public media.
