Kahlil Watson hit two homers and an RBI single to help the Akron RubberDucks to a 6-3 Eastern League win over the Portland Sea Dogs Wednesday night at Hadlock Field.
Akron starter Trenton Denholm (7-2) allowed one hit in six scoreless innings, striking out five. Zach Ehrhard got the only hit, a two-out single in the sixth inning, but he was promptly picked off.
Watson, the 16th overall pick in the 2021 draft by the Miami Marlins, hit solo homers in the fourth and sixth innings and added an RBI single in a three-run seventh.
Portland scored once in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Ronald Rosario and twice in the eighth on a two-run homer by Ahbram Liendo.
Max Ferguson had two hits for the Sea Dogs, who have lost the first two games of the series.
