Tanner Houck pitched five scoreless innings on a rehab assignment from the Red Sox, his Boston teammate Masataka Yoshida had a hit, and the Portland Sea Dogs went on to a 7-1 Eastern League win over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Friday at Hadlock Field in Portland.

Houck, who is recovering from a right flexor pronator strain, allowed three hits with no walks while striking out four. Payton Tolle came on in relief and threw four innings, giving up two hits with seven strikeouts and no walks. A home run by Peyton Williams with two outs in the ninth ended the shutout bid.

Mikey Romero had a home run, four RBI and two runs for Portland while Allan Castro had two hits, two RBI and a run scored. Portland scored four runs in the fifth inning to break a scoreless tie with Romero and Castro each hitting a two-run single in the rally. Yoshida, coming back from right shoulder surgery, had a single and scored. He finished 1 for 4 with a run scored.

Portland added one run in the seventh on Ronald Rosario’s RBI single, then two more in the eighth on a two-run homer by Romero.

Red Sox pitcher Hunter Dobbins, also on a rehab assignment, is expected to pitch for the Sea Dogs on Saturday against the Fisher Cats. He went on the 15-day injured list on June 22 with a right elbow strain.
