Red Sox pitcher Hunter Dobbins, on a rehab assignment, pitched five innings in the Portland Sea Dogs’ 4-2 loss to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in an Eastern League game on Saturday at Hadlock Field in Portland.
Dobbins, who has been on the injured list since June 2 with a right elbow strain, allowed one run on two hits, struck out eight and walked one. This season with the Red Sox, Dobbins is 4-1 with a 4.10 ERA in 59 1/3 innings.
Dobbins threw 62 pitches on Saturday, 44 for strikes.
Masataka Yoshida, also on a rehab assignment, hit an RBI single in the third inning and another in the seventh inning to give Portland a 2-1 lead. Yoshida started in left field and batted second for the Sea Dogs. He has not played for the Red Sox this season after having right shoulder surgery in the offseason.
Charles McAdoo and Cade Doughty hit solo home runs in the top of the ninth inning to give New Hampshire the win.
David Sandlin pitched four innings in relief of Dobbins, allowing three runs on five hits. He struck out five and walked one.
