I watch with interest the political posturing of our elected officials. Those in the Senate and House in Washington need to remember they were hired by, paid by and work for the American people. They are not there to serve the president or their party or to enhance their chance for reelection. They are there to make life better for the American people.
The same holds true for local officials in Augusta. They are hired by, paid by and are supposed to work for the benefit of the people of Maine. They are not there to serve their party or enhance their reelection chances. They are there to make life better for the people of Maine.
It is sad that we have reached a point where politicians seldom tell the truth, or do what is right, but rather give nonspecific statements about issues and then vote to appease their party leaders and not the people they are there to serve.
The people need to wake up and begin voting those out of office who forget, or ignore, who they were elected to serve.
