Cheverus 3, Brunswick 2: The Stags won both regular-season matchups, but that didn’t faze the Dragons in the girls hockey state final. A pair of quick goals late in the second gave them a 2-1 lead, but Lucy Johnson tied it midway through the third and Caroline Rousseau’s overtime goal gave Cheverus its third straight state title.
Class B track distance duels: Morse’s Shealyn Brochu and Greely’s Rowan Berry both beat the previous 1,600-meter Class B state meet record, finishing in 4:51.00 and 4:51.28, respectively. They then went toe-to-toe again with two more state-record-surpassing times in the 800, this time with Barry (2:13.60) prevailing in another tight race with Brochu (2:13.73).

Mt. Ararat 51, Westbrook 50: The No. 8 Blue Blazes played relentless defense and led by 17 points late in the third quarter of the Class A South girls basketball quarterfinal. The top-seeded Eagles battled back and overtook Westbrook to survive their biggest test of the postseason on their way to a state title.
York 3, Yarmouth 0: York was 0-15 all-time, including two regular-season losses, against Yarmouth, winners of five straight Class B volleyball titles. In the Class B state semifinal, coach Suzanne Bradley’s Wildcats used a diverse attack and hustling defense to win the critical points in a taut 26-24, 25-22, 25-22 sweep.
