Four-time state wrestling champion Cody Hughes of Marshwood High headlines this year’s Maine Amateur Wrestling Alliance Hall of Fame class.

Hughes set a since-broken Maine high school record with 212 career wins, against nine losses from 2011-15. He placed in the top six at the New England championships each season. Hughes wrestled in college at Virginia Tech, winning 82 matches and qualifying for the NCAA championships as a senior in 2020.

Hughes will be inducted along with Fred Smith and Josh Eon on Aug. 16, at Mast Landing Brewing Company in Freeport.

Smith was a three-time state champion at Kennebunk from 1971-73 and also won a Junior Olympic freestyle New England title before wrestling at the University of Rhode Island. Eon won three state titles and placed three times at New Englands while compiling a 169-22 record at Massabesic from 2004-08.
