As a resident of House District 90, here in Auburn, it’s “comforting” to know that the majority party in Augusta has seen fit to restore our collective voices. As we all know, earlier in the session our representative, Laurel Libby, had the audacity to question the legislative leadership’s perspective on social media posts, and was subsequently censured.

Her vote and voice on the House floor being returned at the close of this recent session was a nice touch to the underhanded methodology employed throughout the entire preceding session, or sessions, by the current majority party. They tried to silence her and her constituency here in District 90. They failed.

That the plan backfired and, ironically, gave Rep. Libby the national megaphone to highlight the level of injustice induced by the House leadership here in Maine to the rest of the country would appear to be justice appropriately served.

Speaker Fecteau and his tyrannical majority were hoping to clear cut their path to accommodate their agenda. Unfortunately for them, our Tree of Liberty here in District 90 did not fall, but she nevertheless made a big noise for everyone to hear. We’re thankful to have such a persistent voice for our rights here in Auburn.

Well done. I thank Rep. Libby for standing strong in the face of tyranny.
