I was waiting for the light to change at the intersection of the exit ramp off I-95 and Kennedy Memorial Drive. When it changed, I slowly entered the intersection like I always do — because my 70-plus years of driving experience has taught me to wait a second or so before proceeding. Suddenly, a motorcyclist ran through the red light, right in front of me. As I stopped to avoid a collision, a second motorcyclist also raced through the red light and just waved at me or gave some other gesture.

My passenger witnessed this incident and could not believe what happened. I could have killed or injured this driver if I hadn’t been alert of this possible collision. The drivers were heading in the direction of Oakland. The incident was caught on my dash camera but there was no use notifying the police because I didn’t get a plate number.

I keep seeing road signs telling drivers to respect motorcyclists on the road, but this was a man with a death wish.
