My grandfather immigrated to this country with his surname spelled Jochmann. Donald Trump’s grandfather immigrated to this country with his surname spelled Drumpf. Like so many immigrants, their surnames were changed upon entry or shortly thereafter.

Apparently this president finds it easy to forget his family’s past history and the opportunities afforded them upon acceptance. Why then would he exclude people who, by far, contribute to the wealth of the United States and do not present a problem? Our tax money being wasted on fraudulent law enforcement, our civil rights undermined at every legal level and the expression “getting ahead” reserved for the millionaire class are only the outcomes of his personal philosophy — selfishness.

My grandfather worked in a steel mill and could not speak much English. The president thinks he works in a gold mine and is very good at talking in circles. Where this country is heading is anybody’s guess, but we do need leaders who can distinguish good from bad. Ignorance doesn’t need background checks.
