Pat loved animals (especially cats), working, and helping people. She attended Winthrop schools until moving to Lewiston where she graduated from Lewiston High School. She was trained as an X-ray technician and secretary, and at the age of 76, she earned a medical transcription certificate. She worked several years as a secretary for Blanchard Associates and Community Telephone in Winthrop, at Winthrop Associates (for architect husband, Bill) and for attorneys in Winthrop. Possibly her favorite position was as a page in the Maine Senate.

Caring for others was a lifelong passion. She was an active volunteer in the Hospice and Grieving Children’s programs. In her retirement years she cared for the elderly, including those afflicted with Alzheimer’s.

Her final years of life were spent living first at the Margaret Chase Smith House in Augusta and then at Clover Manor in Auburn. She loved Clover Manor – it served her love of socializing very well. She was loved and well taken care of by all the staff; in fact she knew almost every person who worked there. Known as “Gigi”, in her final hours she had a constant flow of staff who came to visit and say goodbye.

A memorial service will be held at Hope Baptist Church in Manchester on Aug. 5, at 1 p.m.

Arrangements and guidance are in the care of Roberts Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop.
