At the protest in front of the Orion Performing Arts Center in Topsham, where Rep. Laurel Libby was speaking on July 15, one demonstrator held a sign that said “Dialogue, not Doxxing.” Although Rep. Libby likes to say she was censured for speaking her mind on the issue of transgender athletes, she was not censured for her beliefs, but for her behavior in posting pictures of a minor on social media without consent.

I wonder what the event would have been like if it involved the people inside and outside the center and was more of an opportunity for listening to the concerns of trans children and parents who have trans children.

Too often issues like this are defined by language intended to be divisive rather than promote understanding.
