Josiah David Begin

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Josiah David Begin, 41, of Alexandria, Va., formerly of Hinckley and Waterville, Maine, passed away on May 11, 2025 from complications of an undiagnosed metabolic condition.

Born on March 29, 1984 in Waterville, Maine, Josiah was the son of Randy Begin and Colleen Sabo. Homeschooled from kindergarten through high school, he earned his GED in 2002 after completing two years at Kennebec Valley Community College in Fairfield. He later graduated from the University of Maine at Augusta with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, all while building a successful career with McKesson Corporation as a computer data analyst and software implementation specialist.

Josiah enjoyed working out and staying in shape, with a love for the outdoors that frequently took him hiking and kayaking. He was also an avid gamer and will mostly be remembered for his sharp wit and dry sense of humor.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, Robert and Judith Robertson of Solon, Maine. He is survived by his grandparents, Richard and Patricia Begin of Oakland; his parents Randy Begin of Biddeford and Colleen Sabo of Alexandria, Va.; and his siblings, Bethany (and Justin) Emery of Solon, Aaron (and Sara) Begin of Waterville, Matthew Begin (and Will Treadwell) of Biddeford, and Adam Begin of Herndon, Va. He also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A private fellowship of remembrance will be held in August for immediate family and a few close friends. Josiah will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Josiah’s memory to a close friend of the family’s nonprofit organization we’d like to support.
